At GuruColl, we believe that every student deserves access to quality guidance, no matter where they come from. The idea was born when our founder, Dhruv Mehta, who holds a Master’s Degree in Computer Science and a Technology Entrepreneurship Certification from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, navigated the college application process himself and experienced firsthand how complex and expensive it can be to find the right support.

Fueled by this realization, our team entered the Cozad New Venture Challenge, a premier startup competition at UIUC, where our idea received tremendous praise and validation from industry leaders and financial experts. That early encouragement gave us the momentum to build something meaningful.

We officially launched operations in August 2025, and in just our first month, we’ve already impacted over 500 students; connecting ambition to opportunity through accessible, affordable, and expert college counseling. But this is only the beginning. Our mission is to empower thousands more students to dream bigger and achieve more.
